The Reed Records Management shredding truck will come to the Dalton Library twice in May to accept filled document bags purchased through Dalton Friends of the Library. Onsite shredding will take place Thursday, May 2 from 3:30-5:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 4 from 10 a.m. to noon.

Prepaid Seal N’ Shred Bags, which may be purchased at the Dalton Library, come in two sizes. The large bag for $10 can hold up to 75 pounds of paper (about 15 gallons or two to three banker boxes of paper) while the small bag for $6 has a capacity of 40-50 pounds (about 10 gallons or one to 1.5 banker boxes of paper).

The secure bags can be filled with no-longer-needed confidential documents such as applications, invoices and bank statements. When a bag is full, the user seals it with an adhesive strip and takes it to the Dalton Library on one of the designated dates. At the shred day a Reed employee will take custody of each sealed bag and load it into a no-touch, mobile shredding truck that will destroy all documents onsite.

Celebrate the end of income tax season and boost your spring cleaning by purchasing bags at the library, filling them with your confidential materials and taking them to the library parking area for shredding. If you can’t come on either shred truck day, you may take your filled bags to the Reed facility at 2730 Akron Road in Wooster from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays or call 330-601-0717 to make an appointment for drop-off.

Shred days are sponsored each spring and fall by Dalton Friends of the Library to raise money for special library projects. Further information about the Seal N’ Shred Bags is available at the Dalton library branch, 127 S. Church St., Dalton, or by calling the library at 330-828-8486.
