The Holmes County District Public Library is hosting several events in December.

                        

The following events will be held by the Holmes County District Public Library in December. Call the library at 330-674-5972 for more information or to register for any of these events:

—Story times at the Central Library will be Fridays, Dec. 2, 9 and 16 at 10:30 a.m. Kids aged 2-5 and an adult are invited for stories, activities and songs.

—Story times at the East Branch Library will be Wednesdays, Dec. 7 and 14 at 10:30 a.m. Children aged 2-5 and an adult are invited for stories, activities and songs.

—Gifts from Your Kitchen at the Central Library will be Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m. Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension Services Educator, will share ideas and inspire your creativity to create edible and nonedible gifts from your kitchen. Registration is required.

—Holiday Family Fun Night at the Central Library will be Thursday, Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. Kids up to age 12 and their families will complete three Christmas STEM/STEAM challenges — make Rudolph’s nose light up, create a snowstorm in a jar and more. Registration is required.

—Paws to Read at the Central Library will be Saturday, Dec. 10 from 11 a.m. to noon. Kids will read to a licensed therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines.

—Kids Cozy Christmas Craft Night at the Central Library will be Monday, Dec. 12 at 6 p.m. Kids in grades 3-5 will make their own cozy pillow and a jingle bell necklace followed by snacks and Christmas Mad Libs. Registration is required.

—A book discussion for adults at the Central Library will be Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. on “The Lincoln Highway” by Amor Towels. Books are available to borrow at the Central Library. Copies of the book are available to borrow at the Central Library.

—Let’s Move That Snow at the Central Library will be Tuesday, Dec. 13 from 6-7 p.m. Participants will design and build robots with toothbrush heads and cell phone vibrators able to clear fake snow and ice, with presenter Ella Lorentz, OSU Extension Services Educator. Drinks, pizza and snacks will be provided. Registration is required for this program intended for ages 10-16.

—Family movie matinee at the Central Library will be Saturday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. Showing on the big screen will be the story of inseparable best friends, who share the same superpowers and fight crime side by side. Bring a chair or blanket, snacks and a drink with a lid. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Call the library for the movie title, rated PG.

—LEGO Building Challenge at the Central Library will be Monday, Dec. 19 from 5:30-6:45 p.m. Children aged 6-12 are invited to come for some LEGO-building fun. LEGOS and ideas are provided.

—For those who have been participating in the Yearlong Reading Challenge, the deadline for your submissions is Dec. 17. Call the library with any questions about this program.

—The December craft kit for teens will be available at the Central Library or the East Branch Library. Pick up a craft kit with instructions and supplies to make a peppermint-scented candle.
