If you’re a “Dog Man” fan, you will want to stop by Orrville Public Library Children’s Department to celebrate the “Dog Man” books and the new movie. There will be “Dog Man” activities including a scavenger hunt, a craft, photo ops, a super hero name generator and more.

No registration is needed. Stop by Jan. 27 through Feb. 8 any time the library is open.

Friday Food Fun

Preschoolers and an adult are invited to Orrville Public Library’s series of special food-themed programs. The Friday Food Fun session on Feb. 14 will feature bread. Prepare a bread or quick bread together at home and bring it to share, along with the recipe. There will be a demonstration on how to make flat breads on a griddle.

This free program will begin at 1 p.m. Registration is required and will begin Jan. 27 and will close at noon on Feb. 12. Register by clicking the event on the library website calendar at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or by calling the children’s desk at 330-683-1065.

Brick Builders

Kids in kindergarten through sixth grade are invited to use their imagination and library LEGOs to enjoy themed building activities. There also will be time to build your own creation. This is a three-part series that will be held Thursdays, Feb. 13, 20 and 27 at 4 p.m.

Registration is required and will begin Monday, Feb. 3. Registration can be completed by clicking the program title on the library website calendar or by calling the children’s department. One registration registers you for the whole series.

February Book Club

Orrville Public Library’s Book Club will meet Thursday, Feb. 13. Choose from the 10 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. gathering. No registration is needed. The group will discuss “Killers of a Certain Age” by Deanna Raybourn.

As people age, they often start to feel invisible or not appreciated. So it is with Billie, Mary Alice, Helen and Natalie — four of the deadliest assassins in the world. They soon realize they can’t simply retire from their profession, and they find themselves targeted by one of their own. Will they be able to work together and get out alive?

Children’s Crafternoon

Orrville Public Library’s February Crafternoon, for kids in third grade through sixth grade to explore various creative techniques and media, will be held Friday, Feb. 7 at 4 p.m. This month participants will make a melting snowman.

Registration is required and will begin Monday, Jan. 27. Register by clicking the event on the library website calendar or by calling the children’s department at 330-683-1065.

Coffee & Crafts

Orrville Public Library will continue its partnership with the Orrville YMCA to offer monthly Coffee & Crafts events. Designed for age 16 and over, the group typically meets at 6 p.m. on the first Thursday of the month in the library’s lower-level meeting room.

On Feb. 6 the group will use some unlikely supplies to design a decorative tray for Valentine’s Day.

Supplies are limited, and registration is required. Registration will begin Monday, Jan. 27. Register by clicking the event on the library website calendar or by calling the information desk.

Cookbook Club

Orrville Public Library’s Cookbook Club will meet Monday, Feb. 3 at 6 p.m. This month’s selection is “Dinner Done.” The ladies behind the Dinner Done website have created a cookbook of easy, practical recipes that work for anyone with a busy life. The cookbook contains over 150 recipes including crispy chicken, no-fry hot poppers and no-pot, no-cream fettuccine Alfredo?

Check out a copy of the cookbook and prepare a dish or two to share with others, potluck style. No registration is needed.

Winter Reading Challenge

There’s still time to “Bundle Up With Books” and participate in Orrville Public Library’s Winter Reading Challenge for all ages.

There’s a chance to win prizes by reading. The challenge runs through Jan. 31. Track your reading progress on the Beanstack app or on a paper log sheet available at each information desk.
