A Wayne County Civil War Round Table will be held Wednesday, May 29 featuring Dr. Curt Fields presenting his portrayal of Gen. and President Ulysses S. Grant.

The free program, which will begin at 6:30 p.m., will be held at the Wayne County Historical Society schoolhouse on the campus at 546 E. Bowman St. in Wooster.

Fields has portrayed Grant in 22 states as he travels the nation. As a living historian, he portrayed Gen. Grant at the 150th sesquicentennial observations of Fort Donelson, Shiloh, Vicksburg and Lee’s surrender to Grant at Appomattox Court House, Virginia. He also has portrayed the general at the 160th observations of Fort Donelson, Shiloh and Vicksburg.

Fields researches and reads extensively about Grant in order to deliver an accurate persona. His presentations are in first person, quoting from Grant’s memoirs, articles and letters the general wrote; statements he made in interviews or wrote himself; and first-person accounts of people who knew Grant or were with him and witnessed him during events. He is the same height and body style as Grant.

Parking for the program is available onsite upon entering from the Spink Street entrance and along the fence in the Drug Mart parking lot. For more information about the Wayne County Historical Society, visit waynehistoricalohio.org.
