He’s voting yes on Issue 1
Letter to the Editor,
The results of the Aug. 8 election will have a huge impact on sportsmen, farmers and animal owners.
Most voters know elections are generally won by the side with the most money, and that’s where the greatest weakness of sportsmen and animal enthusiasts lies.
National animal rights groups raise hundreds of thousands of dollars annually, with which they bankroll ballot issues to change state constitutions in order to strip sportsmen and animal owners of their rights.
Issue 1 levels the playing field, ensuring people from all over the state support changing the constitution, not just a few big cities like Columbus and Cleveland.
Issue 1 requires constitutional changes earn support from 60% of voters instead of the current 50+1 percent requirement and requires petitioners to collect signatures from 5% of the voters of the previous gubernatorial election in all 88 counties compared to the current 44-county requirement.
In a relatively rural county like Holmes, the last thing we need are green-haired socialists from Cleveland deciding if we can legally own a cow or how we can manage our wildlife.
So when heading to the voting booth on Aug. 8, make sure to vote yes on Issue 1.
