Next CWRT on May 21 to feature Floyd
The next Wayne County Civil War Round Table will be held May 21 at 6:30 p.m. and will feature Bertram Floyd, who will present The African American Civil War, From Auction Block to Glory, 1779 -1870 at the Wayne County Historical Society schoolhouse. The program is free and open to the public.
Floyd will discuss Civil War colored troops and laws, rhymes, politics, heroes, family life, soldier battles and the United States Constitution.
Originally from Youngstown, Floyd is an artist, sculptor, visionary, Civil War reenactor and engineer for years, working in the defense industry and research environment and authoring over 29 technical publications. He is now pursuing one of his many loves as a Civil War performer and has presented at the Rutherford B. Hayes Museum, American Civil War Museum, National Museum of the Civil War Soldier and numerous other venues.
The Wayne County Historical Society is located at 546 E. Bowman St. in Wooster. There is parking onsite — enter from the Spink Street entrance — and along the fence in the Drug Mart parking lot. For more information about the Wayne County Historical Society, visit waynehistoricalohio.org.
