Next pop-up food pantry is Aug. 13
The Wayne County Health Department, in collaboration with the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, will host its next monthly pop-up food pantry on Tuesday, Aug. 13 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the parking lot of the health department offices at 244 W. South St. in Wooster.
Individuals and families can receive food if their income is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level — $30,120 per year for individuals and adding $10,760 per year for each additional family member. For example, a family of four whose annual household income is $62,400 or less would be eligible.
“We were able to serve 63 families with our first one in July and are hoping to serve more families in need in August,” said Dr. Nick Cascarelli, Wayne County health commissioner.
The Wayne County Health Department also is looking for volunteers to help with the pop-up pantries. They would need to be there an hour before and a half-hour after the food pantry in addition to the actual pantry itself.
