Pomerene Hospital holding Feb. 19 talk on heart health
February is American Heart Month, a time to prioritize heart health and take proactive steps toward a healthier future. Pomerene Hospital is committed to supporting the Holmes County region with expert cardiac care, from routine checkups to advanced treatment.
Heart disease is often preventable with lifestyle changes, early detection and proper medical care. This month Pomerene Hospital encourages individuals to take charge of their heart health by scheduling regular checkups, staying active and maintaining a heart-healthy diet.
Dr. Claudine D. Dumandan, a cardiologist at Pomerene Hospital, highlights the hospital’s comprehensive cardiac services, which include diagnosing and treating common heart conditions. For more advanced care, patients can be referred to Aultman Deuble Heart and Vascular Hospital.
“Pomerene Hospital, in partnership with Aultman Deuble Heart and Vascular Hospital, provides compassionate cardiac care to patients in our community. We have a great team of people who are reliable, honest and truly concerned for our patients’ well-being,” Dumandan said.
During American Heart Month, Pomerene Hospital encourages the community to do the following:
—Schedule a heart checkup. Early detection can help prevent serious heart conditions.
—Adopt a heart-healthy diet. Eat more fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
—Stay active. Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate exercise per week.
—Quit smoking. Smoking is a major risk factor for heart disease.
As part of its commitment to community education, Pomerene Hospital invites the public to a HealthTalk on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at noon in the hospital auditorium. Featured speakers Renee Conkle, RN-BC, and Monica Miller, RN, will present Your Heart: A Healthy Diet Doesn’t Have To Be Bland & Boring. Attendees will gain insight on maintaining a heart-healthy diet while still enjoying meals.
