Stark County commissioner joins board
During the March 7 Stark-Tuscarawas-Wayne Joint Solid Waste Board of Directors meeting, Executive Director David Held said the 2024 scrap tire collection yielded 16,369 residential tires and 11,040 tires illegally dumped.
Tires can be taken to Canton, Massillon, New Philadelphia and Wooster recycling sites. Only 10 tires a year per person are accepted.
“Those bringing tires must provide identification. The tire collection is one of our most positive programs in the district,” Held said.
Alan Harold, newly appointed Stark County commissioner, was introduced by Held. Harold was appointed in December to the seat of Janet Weir Creighton, who retired. He served as the Stark County auditor for 14 years.
