The Wayne County Stitchers, a group of sewists that meets once a month, are hosting their 6th annual Sewing Fest on Oct. 1 at the Church of the Cross United Methodist Church, 5100 Cleveland Road in Wooster.

Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with classes presented from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Door prizes and raffle items are at 3 p.m., and the ladies of the church will prepare food for lunch at a nominal cost or participants can bring their own. Admission is $10.

The Wayne County Stitchers meet to discuss sewing projects, plan events and community projects, go on field trips, and further the lost art of sewing and needlework. Dues are $10 per year, which help defray the cost of community projects and the Sewing Fest. Some meetings are planned as sew-ins, where members bring their sewing machines and work on projects or participate in hands-on classes.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month at 10 a.m. at Parkview Christian Church, 1912 Burbank Rd., Wooster. After meetings, many members share lunch together at a local restaurant.
