Millersburg Lions Christmas Arts & Crafts Show Dec. 7
An upcoming event in Millersburg will provide a Christmas atmosphere with a chance to pick up some Christmas presents for the holiday season or some holiday décor for around the house this Christmas.
If someone is looking for Christmas decorations to brighten the home or office or searching for a gift, their time is coming, and there should be plenty to capture their fancy at the annual Millersburg Lions Club Arts & Crafts Show on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The arts and crafts show will take place at St. Peter Catholic Church in Millersburg from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., where 40 crafters will create a haven of Christmas joy for shoppers.
One step through the door will open a Christmas wonderland of arts, crafts, cookies and more that should warm the hearts of those seeking some inspiration for the Christmas season or to find gifts for friends and loved ones.
What makes it even better is there is no charge to attend.
The event came about one decade ago when the former West Holmes High School Christmas Arts & Crafts Show came to an end.
Event organizer Sue Dye said there was so much love for that event that when they stopped having it, those who were annual attendees were disappointed. Recently, the Lions Club picked up the mantle and allowed this time-honored Christmas tradition to continue.
With 40 vendors set to showcase their wares, Dye said the Lions are excited to be able to offer so many options for holiday shoppers.
“We will have plenty of items we’ve had before as well as new ones,” Dye said. “There will be food items like candy, fudge, peanut brittle and cookies and a lot of handmade items like homemade scented soap, Christmas wreaths, cemetery saddles for the holiday, wooden decorations, doll clothing, homemade scarfs and hats, along with plenty of great homemade crafts like wall hangings, candles, ornaments, lap throws and gloves.”
Dye said shoppers never know what kinds of arts and crafts might show up, but this event is certain to put the “ho-ho-ho” in the holidays.
Not only is the quality great, but also the quantity is there. Dye said each year she has a waiting list of vendors who would love to peddle their wares, and this year is no different.
She said they have vendors and crafters from Holmes County and plenty of towns and counties surrounding Holmes County with a variety of merchandise.
“If it’s not Christmas related, it will be Christmas gift related,” Dye said. “People will be able to Christmas shop to their hearts’ content, and what makes it neat is that it’s different from year to year.”
While the Christmas gifts will be many, Dye said the event also serves as a place for friends, neighbors and even complete strangers to gather and enjoy a day basking in Christmas joy.
The church lady’s guild also will provide a selection of soups, with three different flavors of soup, cornbread and muffins available to purchase.
“It’s a great place to find gifts for Mom, Grandma, your wife and anyone who enjoys getting into the Christmas spirit,” Dye said. “We invite everyone to come in and enjoy the holiday spirit and find some fun gift ideas for loved ones and maybe even those in nursing homes or hospitals.”
In addition, there will be door prizes given away throughout the event. Dye said about every 45 minutes, they will announce door prizes provided by the vendors.
