Following the success of last year’s plant and vendor fundraiser, the Orrville Historical Society has announced the return of its second annual autumn fundraiser, scheduled Oct. 12 from noon to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Smith-Orr Homestead, 365 W. Market St., Orrville.

Last year’s fundraiser was a success with 22 vendors and community support helping to raise approximately $2,000, which contributed to the larger foundation repair project. The project has now been completed, strengthening the homestead’s foundation for years to come.

This year the fundraiser will return with many attractions including musician Chase Christie and Kristin Lorson of Kristin-Art.com, who is back with kids art activities. Attendees also can look forward to hayrides provided by the Nussbaum family of Evergreen Property Care, henna tattoos and complementary lawn games.

All proceeds from this year’s event will go toward needed repairs to the first-floor bathroom, which has suffered water damage. The event will be free to enter with parking available across Market Street in the city lot. For those with mobility challenges, a shuttle service will be offered to transport guests from the parking lot to the event grounds.

Attendees can support the fundraiser by entering basket raffles, participating in ticketed activities and purchasing a Donor Discount Wristband, which offers a 15% discount at all nonfood vendors and a complementary hayride ticket.

Food vendors this year include Rollin’ With Seo, Boba Bowl, Homesteading in Ohio (serving freeze-dried candy) and Love Finds a Whey, an allergy-friendly baked goods provider. Vendors have agreed to donate a portion of their sales back to the historical society.

All donations to the Orrville Historical Society are tax-deductible, and every contribution helps preserve the Smith-Orr Homestead. Vendor spaces are still available on a first come, first served basis. Interested parties are encouraged to email event organizer Erika Stafford at smithorr1850@gmail.com to secure their spot.
