Orrville Public Library’s Summer Reading Program will run May 27 through Aug. 5 with a kickoff event on Saturday, June 3 from 10 a.m. to noon that will feature games, activities, popcorn, cotton candy and community service vehicles to explore.

The library will once again use the online platform, Beanstack, for readers to track their reading. If new to the program, create a free account at www.orrville.lib.oh.us or at orrville.beanstack.org. There also is a Beanstack Tracker app to download, and paper log sheets are available in each department.

The children’s department will have a variety of activities throughout the summer, starting with the creation of a community rock garden on June 8, followed by Bug Walks on June 9, July 14 and Aug. 11; a Family Cookbook Potluck on June 29; creating a heart mural during the month of July; and concluding with an Ice Cream Social on Aug. 4.

Teens who read for just 60 minutes will earn an entry ticket for a grand prize. Additional entries can be earned by visiting the Library On the Go! van, writing a book review, reserving a Book Box or attending the tie-dye event on July 20.

Age 18 and over have the option to read or listen to books to earn entry tickets for a chance to win various prize baskets. Adults also can earn extra entries by writing a book review or visiting the Library On the Go! van.

In addition, the library will support Salvation Army’s Back-To-School Supply Drive. Participants of all ages who bring in 3 three-prong, two-pocket folders in primary colors (no pink) will receive a credit on their reading log.
