Izaak Walton League tree sales start Nov. 26
The Christmas tree sale of the Izaak Walton League of Wayne County will be held Nov. 26-27 and Dec. 4, 10 and 11.
The Christmas tree sale of the Izaak Walton League of Wayne County will be held Nov. 26-27 and Dec. 4, 10 and 11 from 1-4 p.m. each day at 2928 Cedar Valley Road in West Salem.
Christmas trees of all sizes are available for $35, and freshly made pine wreaths also will be sold for $40. Santa Claus has promised to visit Dec. 4 at 1 p.m. for the children to meet and for photo opportunities.
The experience of getting the family Christmas tree at Izaak Walton League has been a tradition for many years. People often mention their childhood memories of the tractor-drawn wagon ride through the woods to the Christmas tree grove, choosing a tree, cutting it down and riding the wagon back through the woods to warm up at the cabin’s potbelly stove with a cookie before loading the tree for the trip back home.
This year the national Izaak Walton League is celebrating its 100-year anniversary of protecting America’s soil, air, water, woods and wildlife. The Wayne County chapter was founded in 1932.
The proceeds of the sale go toward the chapter’s scholarship fund to aid area students pursuing a career in wildlife management, conservation, forestry and related fields.
