Turkey Trot 5k race takes place on Thanksgiving
The Tuscarawas County YMCA will hold its 52nd annual Turkey Trot 5k race this Thanksgiving, Thursday, Nov. 23. This family-friendly race welcomes everyone including serious runners, walkers, strollers and pets.
Race registration is available online at www.tuscymca.org or through the Ohio Challenge Series website at ohiochallengeseries.enmotive.com. Registration for youth age 15 and under is $20 until Nov. 22 and $25 on race day. Registration for age 16 and older is $30 until Nov. 22 and $35 on race day. A map of the course is available on the Y’s website.
Packet pickup and in-person registration will be at the YMCA on Wednesday, Nov. 22 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and 50/50 tickets will be available for purchase. Packets also can be picked up on race day from 7-8:15 a.m.
Live music from the Barnhart Brothers Band will entertain runners before the race begins. Instant results will be posted with awards for the top three finishers overall and the top three in each age group. Special awards also will be given for best costume, oldest runner, youngest runner and best-dressed pet. Winners may collect their awards in the Y’s multipurpose room at the conclusion of the race.
All proceeds from the Turkey Trot provide direct financial assistance to kids and families in the community through the Y’s Annual Campaign, ensuring no child is denied the opportunity to participate in Y activities due to an inability to pay. The YMCA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
