The Alzheimer’s Association will host a free program titled 10 Warning Signs of Alzheimer’s on Thursday, July 25 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at the Wooster Recreation and Community Center, 241 S. Bever St., Wooster.

Alzheimer’s and other dementias cause memory, thinking and behavior problems that interfere with daily living.

Participants will learn how to recognize common signs of the disease, how to approach someone about memory concerns, the importance of early detection and benefits of a diagnosis, possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process, and about free local Alzheimer’s Association tools and resources.

“This program offers a wealth of information and support for anyone who may be facing Alzheimer’s or dementia,” said Mary Ertle, program director for the Alzheimer’s Association Greater East Ohio Chapter. “It can also build a sense of community and allow families to know they’re not alone in this fight.”

Nationwide, 1-in-3 seniors dies with Alzheimer’s or another dementia. There are nearly 7 million Americans living with Alzheimer’s dementia including 236,200 in Ohio, according to the Alzheimer’s Association 2024 Facts and Figures report. A total of 414,000 family caregivers provide 624 million hours of unpaid care each year in Ohio, valued at more than $11.4 billion.
