BRIDGES offers enhanced accessibility to medication
The BRIDGES Program is a medication-assisted treatment program that utilizes proven medications such as Suboxone and Vivitrol in the treatment of opiate and alcohol addiction to give patients choices in their recovery.
Community Mental Healthcare has enhanced accessibility to substance-abuse treatment with the recent transition of its BRIDGES Program from its behavioral health building on Hospital Drive to Community Family Health Center in Dover.
The BRIDGES Program is a medication-assisted treatment program that utilizes proven medications such as Suboxone and Vivitrol in the treatment of opiate and alcohol addiction.
In addition to medication assistance, the 12- to 18-month program combines individual counseling, group therapy and case management to support individuals during their recovery.
The transition was made possible by a $283,000 grant from the Human Resources and Service Administration to further expand accessibility to addiction-treatment services in the area.
While the BRIDGES Program has been operating out of Community Mental Healthcare’s behavioral health building in Dover for about three years, the added funding has allowed the agency to place individuals closer to other services that aid in their recovery process.
“This transition is motivated by a single goal: increase accessibility to treatments that will increase the recovery rates of individuals battling addiction in our community,” said JJ Boroski, executive director of Community Mental Healthcare. “Transitioning the service to the health center allows individuals to access a solid, integrated care model. Not only are we treating the addiction, we are treating the whole person. The treatment model will integrate primary care and dental services to ensure all aspects of the person are receiving the care they need. Many individuals struggle with chronic medical issues that arise out of their substance abuse.”
The health center, located at 204 Bellevue Ave. in Dover, accepts Medicaid, Medicare and most private insurances. A sliding-fee scale also is available for those who may not be covered otherwise.
This year CMH is celebrating 50 years of service to the community. The organization offers comprehensive behavioral-health services including individual and group counseling, psychiatry, substance-abuse treatment, crisis intervention, case management, day-treatment, and school-based counseling. Primary care, dental and medication-assisted treatment services are provided through Community Family Health Center, a program of CMH.
CMH is headquartered at 201 Hospital Drive in Dover. CMH also has offices in New Philadelphia and Carrollton. CMH services are partially funded, in whole or in part, by the Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Tuscarawas and Carroll Counties and the Health Resources and Service Administration.
