The Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center, serving Wayne, Holmes and Ashland counties, and the Ohio Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers will hold an open house at the West View Connection Conference Center, 1034 Country Club Drive, Wooster, on Friday, April 22 from 9-10:30 a.m.

Invited Ohio legislators include Sen. Mark Romanchuk, Sen. Kristina D. Roegner, Rep. Scott Wiggum, Rep. Darrell Kick and Rep. Bret Hudson Hillyer.

At the Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center, children and their families can receive medical assistance and intervention following abuse, talk to a professional provider about their traumatic experiences, receive information on what to expect in the court process, and receive ongoing support as they navigate the aftermath of their trauma.

The Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center also provides information and support to surrounding communities, going into schools and other settings to provide information on abuse prevention and resources on how to recognize signs of abuse and trafficking and intervene appropriately. Every service offered by the Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center is provided free of charge.

In recent years the scope of child abuse and trafficking including the extent it impacts families and children nationwide has been brought to light by increased media attention.

The members of the ONCAC know addressing childhood trauma must be taken on as a team. In an average year, Ohio’s Children’s Advocacy Centers serve approximately 11,700 children across the state. These are children who have suffered physical abuse, sexual abuse and human trafficking.

The Ohio Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers is comprised of more than 30 accredited and developing practice sites that offer response and prevention to child abuse (both physical and sexual), neglect and trafficking. One of its centers of excellence is the Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center.

If you support the CAC and are interested in attending this event, call the CAC at 330-262-1063. Go to www.ONCAC.org for more information.
