The Tuscarawas County Public Library System has partnered with The Alzheimer’s Association to present a free three-part series that will provide caregivers with the tools to understand Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.

The three-part series will be held Tuesdays this fall from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Main Library of the Tuscarawas County Public Library System, 121 Fair Ave., New Philadelphia.

“This educational program series is designed to help family/caregivers understand the disease, develop communication strategies and understand triggers,” adult and teen services manager Robyn Guedel said.

According to Guedel, attendees will benefit from these classes, whether they are a relative or caregiver for a parent, spouse or friend and whether the person they care for is someone who lives at home, in a nursing home or across the country.

Dates and topics include the following: Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia on Sept. 13, Dementia Caregiver Effective Communication Strategies on Oct. 11, and Understanding and Responding to Dementia Behavior on Nov. 15.

The class size is limited. Registration is required. Visit the library’s online event calendar at www.tusclibrary.org or call 330-364-4474.
