WCH names Kish director of medical staff services
Wooster Community Hospital Health System recently announced the appointment of Mary Jayne Kish as director of medical staff services.
Kish began her career at WCH in 2002 as a medical transcriptionist/secretary for the pulmonary/neurology department. In 2010 she accepted the position as the medical staff coordinator and began her journey as a new medical services professional.
Kish is dual certified through the National Association of Medical Staff Services as a certified provider credentialing specialist, certified professional medical services management and has completed the NAMSS Leadership Certificate Program. She also serves on the Ohio Association of Medical Staff Services Board as the Northeast Region representative.
The medical staff services department is primarily accountable for the administrative and medical legal structure of the organized medical staff in addition to ensuring all physicians and advanced practice professionals are properly credentialed and licensed to practice within the hospital system. At WCH the director of medical staff is responsible for processing and maintaining the credentialing files for over 380 providers. The medical staff services profession has grown into a significant role within all health care settings and continues to evolve as patient safety remains the core value of the health care industry.
“As a medical services professional, my role in the health care system is to facilitate connections between providers and patients,” Kish said. “My primary responsibility is to ensure that we are credentialing and onboarding the most qualified practitioners at WCH. I take immense pride in my profession and feel honored to be part of such an outstanding quality team at WCH.”
