HCA unveils lineup of spring, summer programs

Holmes Center for the Arts will offer a range of creative spring and summer camps, workshops and classes for children, teens and adults.

                        

Holmes Center for the Arts will host a variety of spring and summer workshops, camps and classes for children, teens and adults.

Superhero Adventure Camp will run June 3 and 6 from 10-11:30 a.m. for age 3-6 for $45, focusing on imagination, movement and art through superhero themes.

Pirates and Mermaids Camp, also $45, will take place June 24 and 27 from 10-11:30 a.m. for the same age group and combines movement and art while featuring creative underwater adventures.

Animal Safari Camp, also $45, will be held July 8 and 11 from 10-11:30 a.m. for age 3-6, offering movement and animal-themed art.

Beach Blast Camp, also $45, is scheduled for July 29 and Aug. 1 from 10-11:30 a.m. for age 3-6, with beach-inspired movement and art activities.

Cartooning Camps with local artist Dylan Olsen will be available to age 7-15 for $35 per camp. Sessions will be June 3 and 6, June 24 and 27, July 8 and 11, and July 29 and Aug. 1 from 10-11:30 a.m., each featuring different characters.

Wings & Things Art Camp will run June 9-11 from noon to 3 p.m. for kindergarten through fifth grade with Marlea Hershberger-Leinbach for $93. Students will work with a variety of materials including paint and collage to create masterpieces inspired by insects and other wonders of the natural world.

Beach Vacation Art Camp, led by Lydia Johnson, will be June 16-18 from noon to 3 p.m. for kindergarten through fifth grade and cost $93. Students will take a virtual beach vacation with many projects celebrating summer fun.

Autumn Shaw will lead Blast Off! Space Exploration Art Camp June 23-25 from noon to 3 p.m. for kindergarten through fifth grade, also for $93. Students will be led on an adventure with 2D and 3D activities that explore outer space using a variety of materials.

Dogwood in Bloom, a teen and adult class with Hershberger-Leinbach, will take place June 11 from 6-8 p.m. for $32, using acrylic and torn paper on Masonite. All materials will be provided.

Travel Sketchbooks and Coffee, led by Michelle Steffen, will be June 12 at HCA and June 19 at Café Chrysalis from 6:30-8 p.m. for $32. Participants will learn how to pack a travel sketch kit and some basic techniques and should bring a sketchbook and drawing supplies.

Rose Bouquet, a teen and adult acrylic painting class with Hershberger-Leinbach, will be June 25 from 6-8 p.m. and cost $32. Participants will learn to paint a colorful summer bouquet using acrylic paint on primed Masonite.

Paint Camp for Tweens with Shaw will run July 14-16 from noon to 2 p.m. for age 9-13 for $63. Shaw will share tips for making works of art in several painting mediums.

A six-week wheel-throwing ceramics class with Staci Lecky will be held Thursdays, July 10 to Aug. 14 from 6-7:30 p.m. for age 16 and older. The class costs $100 with a $40 supply fee and is open to all skill levels.
