American Legion Post 494 of Sugarcreek will conduct a dedication ceremony for Revolutionary War veteran John Burger, who is buried at Fisher Cemetery, off state Route 93 and north of Baltic, on Sunday, June 3 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will feature the Legion Honor Guard and the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The original stone had deteriorated to the point of being illegible and was replaced with a military headstone that was installed May 21.

Burger (1752-1836) served as a private from Pennsylvania during the revolution. He married the former Catherine Lederman, with whom he had children: Godfrey, Susannah, Elizabeth, Barbara, John Jr., David, Samuel, Christian and Daniel. He was a charter member of the Baltic Church of the Brethren and has many descendants in the area.
