Reader believes politicians must be committed to the people

Letter to the Editor, I was reading the Constitution, and this is what I came up with: “We the people,” affirming that the government of the United States exists to serve its citizens. Now let’s just look into that. Are the people we have elected concerned with our welfare? I don’t think so. They are all alike and seem to be concerned with their own pockets. Partly the corrupt system has contributed to this misuse of powers. Greed abounds, and the money that lobbying and the PACs bring to campaigns influences the candidates. They end up trapped in a morass of debts to the contributors. Are they serving the majority of the citizens? No, it seems to me there should be a bill that would amend the amount of money each candidate receives, make it fair. We need a complete remaking of many articles of our great Constitution, but most of all we need politicians who are really committed to the betterment of this country and its people.
