Annual Kids Day celebration is June 14 in Wooster
On Saturday, June 14, kids of all ages are invited to the annual Kids Day celebration at the main branch of the Wayne County Public Library, 220 W. Liberty St., Wooster. The free event will be from noon to 3 p.m.
“Enjoy free fun in the summer sun,” said Kerri Manley, project manager at Main Street Wooster.
Manley said Kids Day is always held the second weekend in June.
“There is no need to sign up or register. Just come and enjoy the true kickoff to summer.”
The afternoon will be filled with kid-friendly activities. There will be a disc jockey, Nightfall Entertainment, playing everything from movie soundtracks to kids pop. Over 45 businesses, organizations and nonprofits will be on hand with activities such as face painting, crafting and balloon twisting. There also will be games with prizes. Additionally, a firetruck, a police cruiser and a tow truck will be on hand for exploring.
At 1:30 p.m. awards will be presented for the children who received the All-American Kid Award. The recipients were nominated by their teachers for being exemplary students, honorable citizens and classmates. Each winner will receive a $25 gift card and a certificate. The mayor will present each child with a pin.
Much of the activity will take place in the library parking lot. South Walnut Street, adjacent to the library, will be blocked off for the trucks.
The lead sponsor for the event is Schaeffler. Other sponsors include The Village Network, The Apple Creek Banking Company, Wooster Friends of the Library and MCTV.
“We are so thankful for our sponsors,” Manley said. “We could not do this event without them.”
Kids Day will take place rain or shine.
“In the last several years, we have had over 2,000 kids attend this event,” Manley said. “It is a beloved event in our community. We look forward to seeing you attend our annual Kids Day event.”
