The Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District announced the recent promotion of Adria Bergeron to join the executive management team as director of marketing and communications.

In this position Bergeron is responsible for directing and managing a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that includes promoting and maintaining the MWCD branding, advertising and public-relations initiatives that utilize various media and strategies such as corporate and other sponsorships to encourage use of MWCD recreational facilities.

Bergeron works closely with the executive director, the executive team and the board of directors to manage the overall MWCD brand and to develop and promote MWCD activities and events that highlight, support and promote the mission of flood control, recreation and conservation. She also serves as the primary spokesperson to the public and the media for the MWCD.

“Since joining MWCD, Adria has been a great asset in showing the public what we offer at our parks, lakes and marinas,” said Craig Butler, executive director for MWCD. “I am very pleased she has accepted this promotion and am very confident Adria will do an excellent job managing our extensive marketing and communication activities.”

A native of Tuscarawas County, Bergeron is a graduate from the University of Akron with a business degree in marketing management. She began with the MWCD in 2014 as the recreation marketing coordinator. Her experience also includes director of marketing for New Towne Mall in New Philadelphia and director of marketing for the San Diego Air and Space Museum in San Diego, California.

“I am excited for the opportunity to further communicate the tremendous positive impact that the MWCD has on the region,” Bergeron said. “It is a privilege to work for the MWCD, and I genuinely enjoy the work that I do every day. I look forward to further enhancing relationships in the communities that we serve.”

Bergeron joins Mary Burley, director of human resources; Boris E. Slogar, P.E. - chief engineer; James B. Cugliari, chief financial officer/treasurer; Ryan McCleaster, chief of recreation; Brad Janssen, chief of conservation; and Jim Pringle, chief legal counsel, on the MWCD executive management team, led by Butler, executive director/secretary.
