Under the leadership of Mayor Joel Day, the City of New Philadelphia will host a public meeting to provide an update on the New Philadelphia Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Plan.

The plan addresses how to create a more accessible, safe and welcoming city for walkers and bicyclists, and the meeting will take place Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m. at Council Chambers at the John Kniseley Municipal Centre, 150 E. High Ave.

Working in partnership with the Tuscarawas County Commissioners and Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition, the City of New Philadelphia hired Envision Group to assist with the development of the New Philadelphia Bicycle and Pedestrian Connectivity Plan.

Building on the success of the Tuscarawas County Trail Plan and Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail, Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition is coordinating the community engagement and partnership cultivation.

“With the input from local residents, the City of New Philadelphia can develop a walkable and bikable community for all residents from age 8-80 while retaining and attracting talent for community and economic development,” said Dan Rice, president and CEO of the Ohio & Erie Canalway Coalition.

For more information call Rice at 330-374-5657.
