The Tuscarawas County Historical Society was formed in April 1921 by local ministers and educators to find the exact location of Schoenbrunn Village. The society furthered its mission to include marking other historically significant sites in the county.

                        

The Tuscarawas County Historical Society will celebrate its 100th anniversary with an event on Sunday, Oct. 3 at the Canal Tavern of Zoar, 8806 Towpath Road NE, Bolivar.

This family-friendly event will run from 1-5 p.m. with entertainment at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. by folk singer Foster Brown, a first-person portrayal of a canal boat captain at 2 p.m. by Chris Hart, and entertainment by the cast of Trumpet in the Land at 4 p.m.

At 1:30 and 3:30 p.m., tours will be given of the Ohio Erie Canal Towpath Trail, beginning at the trailhead near the tavern. Food and beverages will be available.

The society furthered its mission to include marking other historically significant sites in the county.
