Creative writing contest
Share your original poetry or short stories (with or without illustrations) by entering the Holmes County District Public Library’s writing contest. Prizes will be awarded to the top entry in each category. Submissions are due by Saturday, April 20. Visit the library, the library’s website or call 330-674-5972 for details.
Story times
For kids age 2-5 with an adult, there will be story times at the East Branch Library on Wednesdays, April 3, 10, 17 and 24 at 10:30 a.m. and at the Central Library on Fridays, April 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 10:30 a.m.
Little Learners Playgroup
Kids up to age 5 with an adult will engage in activities to promote reading and social skills at the Central Library on Fridays, April 5, 12, 19 and 26 at 11 a.m. Snacks are provided.
Family movie day
The animated adventure “Migration,” rated PG, will be shown at the Central Library on Saturday, April 6 at 11 a.m.
Youth craft night
Youth age 10-15 will create a wind chime using shells, beads and wood at the Central Library on Tuesday, April 9 at 5:30 p.m. Registration is required.
Let’s do brunch
Join Kate Shumaker, OSU Extension educator, at the Central Library on Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m. as she prepares a few brunch recipes. Registration is required.
Paws to Read
Children are invited to read to a certified therapy dog from Caring Therapy Canines at the Central Library on Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to noon.
Bluey Wackadoo Day
Children are invited to enjoy all things “Bluey” with games, crafts and more at the Central Library on Saturday, April 20 at 10 a.m. Registration is required.
Kite making
Youth age 6-12 will construct and decorate their own kite at the Central Library on Thursday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m. Some may need adult assistance with the activity. Registration is required.
Book discussion for adults
The event will be held Tuesday, April 30 discussing “The Heaven and Earth Grocery Store” by James McBride at the Central Library at 1 p.m. and “Ink Blood Sister Scribe” by Emma Torz at Jitters Coffee House in Millersburg at 6 p.m.
