Hometown Hero banners discussed by Millersburg Council
Millersburg Village Council met March 10.
The following happened during the meeting:
—Dale Obringer from the Lions Club was there to discuss the Hometown Hero banners. The Lions Club is aging and having a hard time on ladders, so they would like to ask the Village Of Millersburg to put up, take down and store the banners. They are willing to continue to collect the pictures, applications and have the banners made. Obringer said as long as the banners were up by Memorial Day because that was the promise made to the sponsors. Council unanimously agreed to have the street department put up the banners.
—Jim Nussbaum from the health department came in to talk to council. He is the new community liaison and was hired to find ways to get people to utilize the Clay Street Park. He will go door to door talking with the residents around the Clay Street Park to see what type of changes they would like to see made that will help get more people out and moving.
—The design/review board met March 5 and approved COA applications for Sweet Tee Design, Trusty Wood Showroom, and door and window replacement for the chamber.
—The bell at the square is being prepped, and cement will be poured to get that back into place.
—Brightspeed is currently working to remove the pole on Jones Street. After that, Melway will be able to pour the asphalt to complete that project.
—Village employees are having weekly meetings on the water billing upgrade and are hoping that will be up and running for the June billing cycle.
—Millersburg Elementary Coloring Contest is happening this month, and once all the pages are colored, the council members who agreed to help judge will meet in council chambers to decide on the winners.
—Mayor Kelly Hoffee read a proclamation for the Child and Adult Care Food Program and declared the week of March 16-22 to be National Child and Adult Care Food Program Week.
—The village received two different insurance quotes — one from the Assured Partners Ohio Plan, which came in at $52,629 for a year, and one from Burgett Insurance in Killbuck, which came in with the same coverage and limits at $42,719. Council voted to go with Burgett Insurance.
—The village has received three applications for the part-time assistant fiscal officer job. Anyone interested in this job can contact the village offices.
—Lt. Peterman from Holmes Fire District 1 asked about possibly purchasing the village’s old police cruiser. Council decided to first offer it to its local fire department if its board is interested in it.
—Hoffee and council congratulated West Holmes’ Louden Dixon, the Division II 150-pound state wrestling champion.
