The children's department at Dover Public Library will celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr's birthday with a book display about King. Along with King's birthday, they will declare Jan. 18-23 Be Kind Week.

There will be handouts of paper mazes, puzzles and coloring sheets. A book display around the back of the department also will include books from other leaders who desired peace and kindness in the world.

"We are inviting all children to stop in and trace their hand on a piece of colorful scrapbook paper," said Jennifer Gardner, the children's department manager. "We will take each handprint and display them all together on a canvas that will be hung in the children's department titled 'Love comes in all colors.'"

The children's department has continued its story times on Facebook Live on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 10 a.m. The stories are now being read by staff from all departments of the library sharing their favorite children's book.

There also is Live Art Class on Facebook every third Thursday of the month at 3 p.m. with Miss Robyn.

There are many ongoing programs for children to take part in at the library: 1,000 books before kindergarten for birth to kindergarten, dragon cards reading trackers for school-age kids, birthday celebrations each month and finding the golden ticket in a book to receive a prize.

For more information on any of these programs, call the library at 330-343-6123 or stop by at Dover Public Library, 525 N. Walnut St., Dover.
