The New Philadelphia Business and Community Association, in conjunction with the City of New Philadelphia, announced the dates for the 2018 New Philadelphia Christmas Parade and Downtown Lighting Ceremony.

This year’s annual lighting ceremony at the gazebo quadrant of the square will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 30. The ceremony will be presented by City of New Philadelphia and will be hosted by Mayor Joel B. Day.

The annual Christmas parade, hosted by the New Philadelphia Business and Community Association, is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 7 at 6:30 p.m.

Registration is now open for the Christmas parade, and all local businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate. There is no cost to participate in the parade, and units may walk, prepare their own floats or rent a commercially prepared float. As this is an evening parade, units should consider the creative use of lights in their floats or walking units.

The parade line-up is from 3:30-6 p.m. in Tuscora Park at the information stand located on Al Maloney Drive in the area by the tennis courts. Units are asked to enter the park from North Broadway onto C. William Kidd Drive.

The parade route will begin in the park at the intersection of Tuscora Avenue and North Broadway. It will continue down North Broadway to town square, turn right onto West High through downtown, turn right onto Second Street Northwest and conclude at the Tuscarawas County Public Library on Fair Avenue Northwest. Guests and parade participants are invited to stop in at the library for cookies, games and a photo with Santa Claus after the parade.

Registration forms are available at the Tuscarawas County Convention and Visitors Bureau Welcome Center, 124 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, or interested parties may email the NPBCA office at npbca@newphiladelphia.org.
