Killbuck and Glenmont will hold Memorial Day services.

                        

Killbuck and Glenmont will hold Memorial Day services on Monday, May 28. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. from the VFW and will be led by the VFW Post 7079 members and the West Holmes marching band. They will march to the Killbuck Cemetery to hold memorial services. Special music will be provided by Toni Shreve and the West Holmes marching band.

Glenmont’s parade will begin at 11:30 a.m. from the Glenmont School building and will be led by the VFW Post 7079 members and the West Holmes marching band.

Guest speaker for both memorial services will be U.S. Army Vietnam veteran Gary Chanay.

Chanay is a 1970 graduate of West Holmes High School. He was in the U.S. Army from 1970-72 and did one tour in Vietnam.

Chanay worked 31 years at Holmes County Highway Department from 1973-79. He worked at Killbuck Police Department, and from 1979-2013, he worked as deputy sheriff of Holmes County. He has been a member of the Killbuck Volunteer Fire Department since 1966.

Chanay is a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America and is a member of the Community Bible Church. He resides in Killbuck and has two grown children: Eric Chanay and Jennifer Douglas.
