New Philadelphia City Health Department has been notified of the third positive case in Tuscarawas County with the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) This would be the first case of a New Philadelphia resident.

                        

New Philadelphia City Health Department has been notified of the third positive case in Tuscarawas County with the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) This would be the first case of a New Philadelphia resident. This positive case is a 36-year-old male and is in stable condition. The New Philadelphia City Health Department is working to identify any close contacts of this resident who would require testing or monitoring for symptoms of COVID-19. Out of respect of privacy of patients, NPCHD will not release any other personal information than given here.

New Philadelphia City Health Department along with Tuscarawas County Health Department, hospitals, healthcare providers and community partners have continuously prepared for cases of COVID-19 in our community.

“We are working closely with the Ohio Department of Health and the Tuscarawas County Health Department, following guidance and protocols in place to manage this virus,” said Vickie Ionno, health commissioner. “We know that COVID-19 is in our community and we will see numbers continue to rise. Our focus right now is to focus on the care of this individual and protect the residents of New Philadelphia and Tuscarawas County.”

Both New Philadelphia City and Tuscarawas County Health Departments are prepared to respond to cases as they occur. We urge resident of Tuscarawas County to heed Governor DeWine and Director of Health, Dr. Amy Acton’s orders to stay home unless you provide an essential service listed in the order.
