Reeves Museum to open for the Christmas season
                        

The Reeves Museum announced it will open for the Christmas Season on Sunday, Nov. 11. The museum will open daily though Dec. 22 and Dec. 27-30 with tours available from 1-7 p.m. Cost for guided tours is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors age 60 and older, $5 for children age 6-18, and free for children age 5 and under.

The theme for this year’s Christmas season is “Children’s Christmas Stories.” Every room will feature a different children’s Christmas book along with children’s clothing.

On opening day, Nov. 11, all veterans and active-duty military will be admitted to the museum at no charge. New this year and every Tuesday through the Christmas season, veterans and first responders will receive a discounted admission of $7. On Wednesdays throughout the Christmas season, admission for seniors age 60 and over will be discounted to $7. Also new this season, every Monday will be college day. Students presenting a valid college ID will be admitted at no charge.

The Reeves Museum will offer a number of special events this Christmas season. On Sunday, Dec. 2 from 5-7 p.m., dancers from Tuscarawas Dance Arts Center will be performing dances from their upcoming “Nutcracker Ballet” during the museum’s candlelight tours.

Sunday, Dec. 9 is the annual Christmas Open House and Gingerbread Display, featuring the Dover High School choirs. The hours for the open house are noon to 7 p.m., and admission is discounted to $3 for all guests.

New this year to go along with the theme will be Stories with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 8, 15 and 22 at 11 a.m. Santa will welcome children into the drawing room of the mansion and read one of the featured Christmas stories. Everyone will then be invited to join Santa in the Carriage House for cookies and cocoa. Discounted tours of the mansion will then be offered to the children and their families. Admission will be $7 for adults and $2 for children age 6 and older.
