NAACP Ohio Conference President Tom Roberts will be in Wooster on Friday, Aug. 30 to meet with community members in a town-hall-style gathering.

                        

NAACP Ohio Conference President Tom Roberts will be in Wooster on Friday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m. to meet with community members in a town-hall-style gathering at the Red Cross Building, 244 W. South St.

Roberts will take questions and reflect on recent violent acts in Dayton and Sterling and how to move forward in a time of division in the state and country. Refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

Roberts was elected president of the Ohio Conference of the NAACP in September 2017. He is a public servant as demonstrated by his service in both the Ohio House and Ohio Senate, where he represented the people of the Miami Valley for more than 20 years. In 2015 he completed a six-year governor appointment on the Ohio Civil Rights Commission as a commissioner.

Roberts was born in Montgomery County, where he has resided ever since. He graduated from Chaminade High School, continued his education at Sinclair Community College and later graduated from the University of Dayton, where he received a bachelor’s degree in communication arts.

Roberts was an employee of Sinclair Community College for 19 years, advisor to the Sinclair Ohio Fellows Student Leadership Development program.
