Seasonal tours highlight historic Zoar and Ft. Laurens

Costumed living history interpreters will lead visitors by lantern light through the 200-year-old town during the annual Zoar Ghost Tours.

                        

Costumed living history interpreters will lead visitors by lantern light through the 200-year-old town and several of its buildings during Zoar Ghost Tours Oct. 19-20 and 26-27. The evening will end with refreshments in the Zoar Hotel.

Tickets are available for the following start times each night: 6:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m., 7 p.m., 7:15 p.m., 7:30 p.m., 7:45 p.m., 8 p.m., 8:15 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Tours are $15 for adults and $10 for children. Parental discretion is advised as the content of these tours may be frightening for children under the age of 12.

A golf cart tour option also is available. These tours cover more of the village and are limited to six guests per tour. Golf cart tours are available at 6 and 8 p.m. each night and cost $30 per person.

Guests can explore Zoar via a horse-drawn wagon and hear local haunted stories from ghosts portrayed by costumed living history interpreters Oct. 19-20. Wagon rides will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $30 per person.

Fort Laurens Ghost Tours will be Oct. 26-27 and led by costumed living history interpreters sharing tales of ghostly encounters spanning the American Revolution, the Canal Era and modern day. Visitors will be led from the museum to the picnic shelters, cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Solider. The night will conclude with candy and apple cider in the museum.

Tours will start every 15 minutes between 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Parental discretion is advised as the content of these tours may be frightening for children under the age of 12.

Guests can purchase a combo ticket that includes access to both a Zoar Ghost Tour and a Fort Laurens Ghost Tour on Oct. 26 or 27. Combo tickets are $20 each.
