Senior center welcomes Moreland
Author Trang Moreland will be the guest speaker for the Dover Public Library’s Lunch & Learn on Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 12:15 p.m. at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center. Moreland will talk about her life, her writing and her new cookbook “I Am You: Vietnamese American Recipes.”
Moreland will demonstrate how to use chopsticks and encourage participants to use them while they have samples of her favorite recipes. Because space is limited, attendees must register in advance with Linda at the senior center library.
“It will be a lot of laughs,” senior center branch librarian Linda Toohey said, “watching us fumble our way through using chopsticks.”
Moreland immigrated to the United States from Vietnam at the age of 21. She overcame language and cultural barriers and became a successful business owner. Prior to writing her cookbook, Moreland wrote her autobiography “Just Smile and Say Hello.” She is vice president of the Tuscarawas County Writers’ Guild. Besides providing supplies for school children in her native country, she also donates to many local benefits and charities. Trang and her husband Jay live in Ohio and have two adult children.
This program is part of the Lunch & Learn series sponsored by the Dover Public Library on the first Wednesday of every month. All programs of this series will be held at the Tuscarawas County Senior Center, 425 Prospect St., Dover.
