Shoebox Expo to be held in Fredericksburg
The Ohio East Area Team of Operation Christmas Child is sponsoring its second annual Shoebox Expo on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Gardens at Homestead.
This free event is open to the public and will feature activities and displays to help people become better shoebox packers. Attendees will hear a shoebox recipient tell their story with a Q-and-A session following.
There will be opportunities to participate in a Shoebox Packing Party, a Mock Shoebox Distribution and The Greatest Journey Class, a 10-week discipleship class offered to shoebox recipients after they receive a shoebox.
There will be craft demonstrations and displays. Door prizes, information and literature also will be available.
Mark your calendar for the annual Ohio East Operation Christmas Child Celebration Dinner at Carlisle Inn in Walnut Creek on Saturday, Sept. 24. There are two times to choose from — noon and 6 p.m. — and it is open to the public.
This year’s featured shoebox recipient speaker is Mariya Tatarin from Ukraine. Seating is limited, and reservations are necessary by Sept. 17 by calling Loretta Diveley at 330-874-2351 or Bev Troyer at 330-763-1826.
Donations will be accepted for the event’s expenses. Additional money received will be given to Operation Christmas Child for The Greatest Journey.
Call Lynette Mahaffey, OCC area coordinator, at 330-204-7244. Operation Christmas Child is a project of the international Christian relief and evangelism organization, Samaritan’s Purse.
The Gardens at Homestead is located at 8226 state Route 241 in Fredericksburg, north of Mt. Hope and across from Homestead Furniture.
