Immaculate Conception School hosted its annual St. Michael’s Day celebration on Friday, Oct. 1, honoring all law enforcement, firefighters, emergency responders and military personnel.

A prayer service was held in the church. Fr. Jeff Coning closed the service with a blessing and a prayer, and the school’s junior choir sang “America the Beautiful.”

Representatives from the Uhrichsville police and fire departments and the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office were in attendance. The guests were treated to refreshments on the school playground after the service.

Students also made cards of thanks. Those who attended the celebration included Uhrichsville Fire Department Capt. Wes Dillon, Jim Swain and Curtis McGarry; Uhrichsville Police Department Chief Vince Beal and Sgt. Brandon McCray; Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office deputies Will Love and Mike Fink; and United States Navy DC3 Chandler Peters.

St. Michael is the Catholic patron saint of law enforcement, first responders and the military. The students from the sixth-grade class planned the service with their teacher, Tricia Love.
