The 67th running of the Tuscarawas County Soap Box Derby Local race was held June 26 on Wabash Hill in New Philadelphia.

There were two divisions raced: Stock and Super Stock. There were 16 Stock participants and 12 in Super Stock. One winner of each division will go on to compete in the All American held in Akron July 17-23.

The winners for Stock were Jensen Stull, first place; Jordan Bitticker, second place; and Kadyn Hoover, third place.

The winner of the Stock Division was Stull, 8, son of Brian and Christy Stull of New Philadelphia. He will be in third grade at South Elementary in New Philadelphia. This was his first local race, although he has participated in several rally races this season. In addition to soap box derby, he is in Cub Scouts, plays soccer and is interested in NASCAR.

The winners for Super Stock were Savannah Blind, first place; Hudson Stull, second place; and Lauren Brown, third place.

The winner of the Super Stock Division was Blind, 11, daughter of Wenny Denman and Scott Blind of Dover. She will be in sixth grade this coming school year in Dover. She enjoys playing soccer and basketball. She loves going to all of the rally races and making new derby friends. She loves spending time with her papa, Tim Barnett, working on her derby car. This is her second trip to the All American. Last year she was the winner of the Stock Division for Tuscarawas County.

Also representing Tuscarawas County is Hudson Stull, 11, who also is going to the All American in July as a 2022 Super Stock rally champion for Region 6, Ohio/West Virginia. He earned points by racing in rally races this past season. He will be in fifth grade at Central Elementary in New Philadelphia. He is in Cub Scouts and enjoys rally racing, music and learning about history. He is the son of Brian and Christy Stull of New Philadelphia.

The Tuscarawas County Soap Box Derby is open to children age 7-21 in Tuscarawas, Carroll, Harrison, Coshocton and Muskingum counties. No experience or equipment is necessary.
