United Way to hold Brews, Burgers and Barbecue

United Way of Tuscarawas County will hold a brand-new event on Saturday, Sept. 25. Brews, Burgers and Barbecue will take place outdoors at Kent State Tuscarawas from 2-5 p.m.
“Last year all of our events were canceled, of course,” said Robin Waltz, president of UWTC. “Our events committee wanted to create a new event that could be held outdoors.”
The adult-only event will bring together six local breweries and more than six restaurants in one location.
“As we know, the restaurant and brewery industries were hard hit during the pandemic,” Waltz said. “We thought this would be a great way for them to display their products in one location for people who haven’t been able to get out to them all.”
Participating local breweries include the Five Barrel Bullet, Hoodletown, Lockport, Paradigm Shift, Woody Pig Farm and Millersburg breweries.

Guests can enjoy live music by local favorites Larry Notz and Mandolin Dave.
“Kent State Tuscarawas has been a fantastic partner,” Waltz said. “They’ve made it not only possible, but also easy to put on this event.”
The event will be held in parking lot A by the science and technology building. Parking lots B and C will be available for ticketholder parking.
Tickets are $40 per person and limited to 350. Tickets include six beer tastings, food tastings from all vendors and a commemorative tasting-size glaze bearing the event logo.

All proceeds benefit the United Way of Tuscarawas County’s mission to build a sustainable community through program funding that supports and strengthens families and children, health and wellness, and emergency needs. These programs assisted 15,000 residents last year. In 2020 United Way’s COVID-19 Community Response Fund raised more than $82,000.
