Jerry Payn of Wooster, Lincoln presenter and scholar, will present “Odds and Ends of Lincoln’s Presidency.”

                        

Wayne County Civil War Roundtable Program, free and open to the public in the Wooster branch of the Wayne County Public Libraries, will be Feb. 19 at 6:30 p.m.

In celebration of Abraham Lincoln’s 210th birthday on Feb. 12 and President’s Day on Feb. 18, Jerry Payn of Wooster, Lincoln presenter and scholar, will present “Odds and Ends of Lincoln’s Presidency.”

The presentation will include discussions of plans to expand the U.S. Capitol building, which was completed during the war but begun by Sen. Jefferson Davis before the war; Lincoln making no “public statements” between his nomination and his inauguration; Lincoln's election by only 39 percent of the popular vote and how he was thought by many to be inferior and unequal to the crisis; the importance of animals in the war; Lincoln's humor and the Emancipation Proclamation; acknowledgement of Gen. Grant; and more.

The Wooster branch is located at 220 W. Liberty St., Wooster.
