Three young artists won gift cards to the Dalton Dari-ette in the recent Dalton Friends of the Wayne County Public Library “I Love My Library” Contest.

The following were chosen for prizes by FOL members during a recent meeting:

—Everly Hershberger, 8, daughter of Joshua and Emily Hershberger. Her drawing shows her enjoying the children’s room with labeled book shelves, the toy storage bins and planets hanging from the ceiling.

—Amia Haver, 6, daughter of Isaac and Shekinah Haver. She loves so many things at the library that her narrative with a colorful drawing wrapped up the side and across the top of the page.

—Evelyn Mendenhall, 3, daughter of Jeff and Erin Mendenhall. She said of the library, “We go there a lot, and it is so fun, and I love it.” Her artwork shows her with a smile.

The adult winner for Dalton’s annual National Library Month promotion was Mary Blosser of Dalton. Her name was chosen at random from among 26 renewing members and 19 new members who joined during April. She received a Kindle book reader.

Dalton FOL President Brianne Froese told members that this year’s addition of an electronic membership option was a success, with 22-of-45 members using the option to join online. Membership is open all year on the Dalton Friends of the Wayne County Public Library Facebook page.

Members voted to increase the price of shred bags sold at the library by a dollar, to $10, as of July 1. Profits from shred bag sales, memberships and donations enable the group to sponsor library programs, purchase and replace children’s room toys, and provide prize baskets for reading promotions and other special library needs.

Each shred bag holds up to 50 pounds of confidential documents. When filled, the bags can be sealed and returned to Wooster Shredding, 2730 Akron Road, Wooster, during regular weekday business hours. The company, owned by the Eriksen family of Wooster, has partnered with Dalton FOL to enable the community fundraiser for the past eight years.
