Two elements of Maifest, the German celebration of spring, will still be held in Historic Zoar Village on June 6.

The first event is a Volksmarch, a leisurely walk. The course winds through the village of Zoar and down the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail before heading back to Zoar. The course will include a 3k and 5k option. The Volksmarch is not timed. This event is held exclusively outdoors.

A pamphlet with historic information on Zoar and the Ohio and Erie Canal Towpath Trail that includes a map of the course will be given to participants. Participation pins created by Warther’s Cutlery will be given out to each registrant. Groups and families are welcome.

Registration is required and costs $10 per person with discounts given to families, groups and clubs. Participants will be given a lunch option of a brat or hot dog, chips and bottled water.

Reservation options will be for start times every 15 minutes beginning at 10 a.m. Each time slot will have a limited number of 10 participants. Tickets can be purchased through the Historic Zoar Village Facebook or at www.eventbrite.com. Participants also can call 330-874-3011. Tickets will not be sold after June 5 at 4 p.m.

A German car show also will be held Saturday, June 6 from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The show will feature all German-made cars including BMW, Mercedes Benz, Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche. Last year’s winner was a Volkswagen Beetle.

The registration fee for cars is $10. Awards include People's Choice, Runner-Up, Oldest Car and Newest Car. All registrants will get a free bratwurst. Registration will start at 10 a.m. in the lot across from Zoar United Church of Christ on the corner of Main and Fifth streets.
