Alice Ann Boggs

Alice Ann Boggs, age 89 of Orrville, died Thursday, April 11, 2019, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, following a period of declining health.

Alice was born Sept. 18, 1929, in Nelsonville, Ohio to the late Charles and Grace (Bateman) Bateman and graduated from Apple Creek High School in 1946. She married Charles L. Boggs on Aug. 14, 1948, in Orrville. Charles died on Aug. 18, 1994.

Alice worked as a homemaker and as a finisher for Wood DeCor (P. Graham Dunn) in Dalton for many years, retiring in 1988.

Alice was a member of Christian Harbor Church in Orrville. She was an active member of the church and was known as the "Church Mother." She enjoyed reading, crocheting and embroidery. She loved to play board games and spend time with her family. She was passionate and served many years at Camp Harbor.

Surviving are six children, Janet Sue (Larry) Snyder of Bristol, Tennessee, Diane L. (Frank) Snyder of Orrville, Charles R. (Marianne) Boggs of Orrville, Rev. John P. (Debbie) Boggs of Rittman, Ricky E. (Donna) Boggs of North Lawrence and Charlene (David) Bunner of Orrville; daughter-in-law, Kathy Boggs-Taylor of Dalton; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, one great-granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter on the way; sister, Vera Fitzwater of Dalton; numerous nieces and nephews; and two sisters-in-law, Lina Faye Simmons and Georgia “Jo” Bateman.

Alice was proceeded in death by a son, Kenneth L. Boggs; siblings, Verna Stottsberry, Fona Jane Jarvis, Daniel Bateman, Pauline Simpson, Glenn Bateman and Dale A. Bateman; grandchildren, Tommy and Todd Snyder, Matthew Boggs, and Caleb Boggs; and great-grandchildren, Charles Ross and Noah Kahl.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 15 at Christian Harbor Church, 598 Wadsworth Road, Orrville, with Pastors John Boggs, Ethan Boggs and Carol Drinkard officiating. Burial will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville.

Friends may call on Sunday at Christian Harbor Church from 2-6 p.m. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville is handling the arrangements. Online registry and expressions of condolence may be made at the funeral home's website at
