Edna Evelyn Hostetler

                        

Edna Evelyn Hostetler, age 96 of New Philadelphia, died Dec. 8, 2018, in Park Village South, following a period of declining health.

Born in Jackson on Jan. 25, 1922, Edna was the daughter of the late Edward W. and Esther (Erwin) Dickerson.

After completing her formal education, Edna traveled throughout Ohio with her sisters, singing in the evangelistic field.

Edna met and fell in love with the late Rev. Lloyd Hostetler, with whom she was blessed with 55 years of marriage prior to his death in 2003. Together, they were the founding ministers of the Christian Temple in Uhrichsville. They continued their ministry pastoring churches in Uniontown and Roswell as well as Salem, Oregon, retiring from the ministry in 1989.

In addition to her love of God, Edna adored her family and always enjoyed spending time together with them.

Edna will be deeply missed by her children, Sharon Peters, Twila Wood and Rev. Larry (Janie) Hostetler, all of New Philadelphia, and JR (Phyllis) Hostetler of Massillon; grandchildren, Jason (Glenda) Wikoff, Travis (Amy) Wikoff, Jamison (Melissa) Hostetler, Julie (LaMonte) Bryant, Sommer (Josh) Hostetler, Justin Hostetler, Danielle (Devon) McCarty, Taylor Ross and McKincie Ross; and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Edna was preceded in death by her grandson, Brandon Hostetler.

Friends may call Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 4-7 p.m. at the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home in New Philadelphia. A funeral service honoring Edna’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at the Christian Temple in Uhrichsville with Pastor Larry Hostetler officiating. Visitation also will be held one hour prior to the service in the church. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover.

The family requests that memorial contributions in Edna’s memory be made to the Christian Temple, 4249 Belden Drive SE, Uhrichsville, OH 44683.
