Elaine May Parris
Elaine May Parris, age 72 of New Philadelphia, died Thursday, March 7, 2019, in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, following a brief illness.
Born in Union Hospital at Dover on Aug. 6, 1946, Elaine was the daughter of the late Frederick W. and M. Jane (Heckman) Swinderman.
Elaine was a 1964 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. Her professional career as a legal secretary, most recently for attorney Dan Lehigh, spanned more than four decades prior to her retirement. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed spending time at her grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.
Elaine is survived by two children, John “Chad” (Tanya) Parris of Hilliard and Kimberly (Greg) Demattio of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Larrissa Parris, Kaige (Brittany) Demattio, Evan Parris, Konner Demattio, Dylanna Parris and Blake Parris; a sister, Lynn Biechler of North Carolina; a brother, Daniel (Nancy) Swinderman of New Philadelphia; her nieces and nephews; and her special friend, Donald Kinser of New Philadelphia.
In keeping with Elaine’s wishes, cremation is to take place with the family holding a memorial service at a later date. The Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia is handling cremation care through Geib’s Tuscarawas Valley Crematory.
