Elsie Huff obituary

                        
Elsie Mae Huff, 88, of New Philadelphia, died Feb. 17, 2010, at New Dawn Retirement Community, Dover. A daughter of the late Frederick Dudley Sligar and Violet Mae Scott, Elsie was born Dec. 6, 1921, in Leavittsville. She worked as a housekeeper for 18 years at Huntington Bank and for 11 years at the office of Dr. Gene Hawk. She was also employed by Hartz, Woolworth’s, and Nichol’s department stores as well as Miller Studio at various times throughout her life. Elsie enjoyed cooking and baking as well as crocheting. In her earlier years, she was a Citizen’s Band Radio enthusiast whose handle was “Pepsi.” Most of all, she cherished her grandchildren and the time spent with them. Surviving are children, Donald (Judy Ann) Huff of Dennison, Judie Yost and Bill (Debbie) Huff, both of New Philadelphia, John (Karen) Huff of Uhrichsville, Ronnie (Shelly) Huff of Port Washington, and Dan (Lisa) Huff of New Philadelphia; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Sligar of Beliot; and half-sister, Martha (Milton) Mays of New Philadelphia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roland E. “Cootie” Huff; son, Jody Ray Huff; son-in-law, Mike Yost; brother, Harry Sligar; and half-brothers, James Sligar and Dudley “Tink” Korns. Services were held Feb. 20, 2010, at Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Bob Jones officiating. Burial was in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia.
