Louis Menapace obituary

                        
Louis N. Menapace, 99, of Dennison, died Feb. 16, 2010, at Hennis Care Center, Bolivar, following a period of declining health. Born Jan. 27, 1911, in Stillwater, Louis was a son of the late Remigio and Luigia Menapace. A lifelong resident of the area, he retired from Penn Central Railroad in 1976 after nearly 50 years of employment. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was an avid gardener who drew great pleasure from sharing his homegrown vegetables with friends and neighbors until his recent health problems prevented him. He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Church, Dennison. Surviving are a son, James (Eleanor) Menapace of Dennison; daughter, Janice (Richard) Hughes of Bolivar; six grandchildren, Michael (Vikki) Hughes of Temple, Texas, Lisa Hughes of Phoenix, Ariz., Steven (Shannon) Hughes of Indianapolis, Ind., Cheryl (Terry) Walker of Strasburg, Bill (Carolyn) Menapace of New Philadelphia, and Karen (Sam) Distefano of Columbus; 10 great-grandchildren, Sean, Sierra, and Hayden Hughes, Christopher Roesner, Jace and Dylan Walker, Charlotte Menapace, and Peyton, Alison, and Anna Marie Distefano; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Adeline Menapace, whom he married in 1932; and sisters, Mary DeMattio, Rose Sikora, Della Alexander, Emma Mastri, Louise Brogne, and Margaret Louise Menapace. Services were held Feb. 20, 2010, at Immaculate Conception Church, Dennison, with Father Anthony Lonzo officiating. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery near Dennison.
