Marjorie G. Gintz

                        

Marjorie G. Gintz, age 98 of Dover and formerly of New Philadelphia, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, in Park Village Healthcare at Dover, following a period of declining health.

A daughter of the late Henry and Florence (Beitzel) Diefenbach, Marjorie was born Nov. 17, 1920, in New Philadelphia.

Marjorie graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1938 and continued her education at Safford Business College at New Philadelphia. She was a former employee of Marsh Industries.

Marjorie was a longtime member of the First United Church of Christ at New Philadelphia, where she was a former member of the choir. She also was a member of the former McDowell Music Study Club and several Bridge card clubs.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Carol (Calvin) Tobin of Black Hawk, South Dakota; grandsons, Brian (Sara) Wurtzel of Warren, Minnesota and David Wurtzel of Jacksonville, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert G. Gintz, whom she married on Sept. 8, 1946; and her son, Alan Gintz.

Visitation will be held in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia on Thursday, Feb. 14 from 10-11 a.m. A service celebrating Marjorie’s life will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastors Jeff Gerber and Jill Lovett officiating. Burial will follow in East Avenue Cemetery.
